Intelligent Motion
“We recognise that automakers have a responsibility to take the lead in developing environmental initiatives...Our goal is to become a world leader in the reduction of Carbon Dioxide emissions on a global scale.” -Osamu Masuko--President and Global Chief Executive, Mitsubishi Motors, Japan.

INTELLIGENT MODELS: The very essence of Intelligent Motion can be seen in the cars that embody it. From the all electric i-MiEV, the first electric vehicle to be brought to a global market by a mainstream auto-manufacturer, to the innovative Colt ClearTec, whose innovative shape ensures reduced drag and consequently returns excellent fuel consumption and the brand new ASX, a car with a conscience and is highly emission intelligent.

INTELLIGENT TECHNOLOGY: Technology is at the forefront of what defines Intelligent Motion, from the energy saving Auto Stop & Go system to the clean diesel engines and electric hybrid engines. Mitsubishi lead the motor industry on intelligent technologies: it is our aim to cut vehicle-produced global line up Carbon Dioxide emissions by 50% from the 2005 level.

INTELLIGENT MANUFACTURE: The principles of Intelligent Motion stretch far beyond what goes into Mitsubishi cars. How they are made is just as important. The practice employed and materials used are designed to maximise efficiency and minimise waste intelligently. In order to achieve targets in reducing emissions Mitsubishi will continue to raise the energy and operating efficiency of all plant and facilities, as well as introducing renewable energy usage through such means as solar power.

INTELLIGENT COMPANY: Mitsubishi also do their best to practice what they preach. From simple things like motion activated lights and reducing paper usage to the cycle to work scheme, they are striving to reduce their own footprint. Mitsubishi Motors’ head office in the UK has held ISO 14000 certification since 2002 (this is the standard for environmental management systems.)

INTELLIGENT YOU: It’s not just in the products you buy and the services you use that your own environmental impact can be reduced. There are a huge number of ways we can all improve our carbon footprint. Over 40% of the UK’s man-made emissions come from energy we use every day, at home and when we travel. By reducing our personal emissions we can all play an important part in helping to prevent climate change and reducing our energy bill.

What is Intelligent Motion? The transport sector accounts for a little over 20% of all global carbon dioxide emissions. Of this, around 70% are generated by vehicles on the World’s roads. Yet vehicles must be a part of a sustainable future for people, society and the planet, so Mitsubishi Motors consider their responsibility to find a solution – a way to realize a sustainable, low-carbon transport society, whilst maintaining the convenience and independence of humanity through the automobile. |
