Don't take chances with your vehicles brakes.

It's all very well rushing around from here to there in a big hurry, you need a faster car, it would be great if the fuel economy was a little better, the road tax costs you far too much each year. The list goes on.

All these things would undoubtedly be nice but they all pale into insignificance on that occasion when you hit the brakes hard and don't get the results you were expecting.

We hardly need to make a list of the consequences of a neglected braking system, the safety of yourself, your passengers and other road users is paramount. That's a heavy car you're driving and as soon as it starts to move it becomes potentially lethal, when it's moving and won't stop effectively it's a bad situation at best!

DO I REALLY NEED A FULL BRAKE SERVICE?

With extended service intervals that are common these days and the visual brake inspections which are now part of most manufacturers scheduled services we recommend an annual brake service.

Consider that a single binding brake will

  • Increase pad and disc (or shoe and drum) wear significantly
  • Produce uneven and reduced braking performance
  • Potentially overheat the brake on that axle which can cause the fluid to boil resulting in extreme brake fade
  • If left for a period of time, likely result in an expensive caliper replacement
  • Increase the amount of fuel your vehicle uses and the emissions it produces

Especially in North Devon, as if the salty winter roads weren't bad enough, being coastal means that our rain water is normally a combination of water, salt and sand. It's fair to say that we have more of a potential for corrosion than some other areas of the country.

WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?

The service includes the removal of front and rear brake pads or shoes (as fitted), the caliper sliders, pins, shoe fittings and other mounting points are cleaned and re-greased where necessary. The wear components are measured against the manufacturers specification before everything is correctly reassembled and adjusted.

We will always advise you of any components that need replacing but never replace any part without your authority.
