MITSUBISHI SHOGUN KEEPS BEACH VISITORS N-ICE AND SAFE

VISITORS to one of Devon’s most beautiful beaches are certain to enjoy a cool time on the sand with a helping hand from a mighty Mitsubishi Shogun.
Parkin Estates has bought the new all-wheel drive model from Barnstaple’s Mitsubishi dealership, Devonshire Motors, to patrol Woolacombe Beach and effortlessly pull its weighty ice cream trailers across the soft sand.
The short wheelbase, Warrior model is the 10th Mitsubishi Shogun that Parkin Estates has bought from the Braunton Road dealership, purchasing its first in 2002. What’s more, after experiencing a whole array of rival four-wheel drive vehicles, there’s no chance of the business choosing anything else to help keep the miles of sand running smoothly at the height of the holiday season.
During peak season the privately-owned, award-winning beach attracts as many as 8,000 visitors a day. The 3.2-litre turbodiesel-powered Mitsubishi Shogun can have a role in everything from taking people who have had an accident to hospital to assisting those who may have lost contact with family members.
Sue Black, Managing Director, Parkin Estates, (pictured below with the new Mitsubishi Shogun) said: “We work our Mitsubishis really hard, but the Shogun takes it in its stride. All of ours have been completely standard, even down to the tyres, and while it can get a little exciting when the tide starts to come in, there’s nothing that poses a problem for them.
“Devonshire Motors understands how vital our vehicles are to us and they’ve been brilliant in their service, having a fantastic attention to detail.”
Nathan Tomlinson, Dealer Principal, Devonshire Motors, added: “We’re delighted to play a role in the upkeep of one of the region’s most beautiful beaches and it’s fantastic to see how the Mitsubishi Shogun really works for Parkin Estates in every possible way.”
